I've tried to find the 2017 specs which seem to be closer, but the neck on this one has a 1.75" nut whereas I thought the 2017 standard still had a 1 11/16" nut. It is in near mint condition except for 2 very minor wear spots on the sides of the neck by the 1st fret and three small finish checks in the top. At the time it felt and sounded like the only acoustic guitar I would ever want or need. After 30+ years, which saw a few other swaps, I bought my first NEW Martin (a D-41) in 1997. Bought my first one (used) over 50 years ago. The e-mail message included a link to the current D-35 Reimagined spec sheet online, but that doesn't line up with what i have. All original 1971 Martin D-28 Acoustic guitar.Serial Number 282XXX. In the world of acoustic guitars, Martin has always been at the top of my various Bucket Lists. Martin replied and said it was a Standard D-35 ordered with an ambertone finish and Baggs Anthem system which seems straight forward, but not exactly correct. The model will be limited to just 45 guitars. The model honors both the artist and one of Martin’s most prestigious models, the D-45. So I was curious about why it was labeled "Custom" and emailed Martin for the spec sheet. Martin Guitar unveiled the D-45 John Mayer Custom Signature Edition at Winter NAMM in Anaheim, California on January 25, 2018. It has standard bracing (not forward, not scalloped) and a 1.75 nut with a different neck shape than my "reimagined" Martin. The neck block says only "D-35e" and does not have a "Custom" or "Custom Shop" label.
The hang tag says the model is "Custom D-35e, Ambertone, LR Baggs"
The designations of 12, C, and E stand for 12 String, Cutaway and Electronics throughout the Martin line, e.g. The guitar is a 2017 D-35e in Ambertone with an LR Baggs Anthem system factory installed JC-12-15E - J umbo size with a C utaway body, 12 string guitar in Style 15 with a built-in E lectronic amplification system.
